North Carolina Baptists have given to the Mother’s Day Offering for patients in financial need at Baptist Hospital since 1924. From the beginning, every dollar of every gift has given witness to Christ’s love, helping patients in serious need pay hospital bills for care received at Baptist. This ministry of benevolent care has served thousands of patients through the years, lifting burdens of need and touching lives with hope.
North Carolina Baptists gave $16,000 in 1924. According to The Miracle on Hawthorne Hill, “Many pastors came from all over North Carolina with the offerings and poured them on the administrator’s desk – pennies, nickels, dimes, and some folded money.” In 2007, the Mother's Day Offering received $726,428, a new record! This generosity reflects the faithful commitment of North Carolina Baptists to missions, to caring for the “least of these” in the name of Jesus Christ.
